When we're talking about Shared Services, the number one issue that comes up is that headhunters get called in usually at the third phase of failed Shared Services Centers.

What about the other people that are working in this service business? if you've worked in the back office, finance function or Human Resources function for many years, have always thought you've known what your customers needed, and attempt to deliver things the same way as before, you are setting yourself up for failure.

If you really feel you don't have the right people in place, go to another location where you can build from scratch. Take the hit, painful as it is.
